Slot for .223?

Hello Peeps.
I have a slot for .223 and have been browsing the internet looking mainly at Tikka and Sako.
I am leaning towards the varmint models.
I have stumbled upon Lithgow Arms which seem to have some good looking attributes and somewhat cheaper.
Have any of you experienced in any way any of these ?
Any input appreciated. Thanks.

In the same boat, like the oking fir a 1/7 or 1/8 twist. Lithgow have a good reputation but not a massive market share as far as I can tell.

I had the Tikka T3X Lite in .223 and it was spot on straight out of the box. Zero’d in four rounds and sub MOA thereafter. I only sold it to get one in .243 (couldn’t justify having both). The only thing I will do differently this time is get the stainless synthetic and not the blued version.

ive got a Sako 85 .223 in stainless varmint with the laminate stock.. yeah its accurate now but mine took a fair bit of bedding in!
my mate uses a tikka in .223 stainless and I prefer his to mine, mine weighs a ton and its not much fun lugging it about all night foxing.
there are plenty of other makes out there that are just as good and a lot cheaper

I’ve got a tikka t3x super Varmint in223, very accurate straight out the box with superformance 53g and my mates home loads , drone pro an stallion mod :)

Most .223’s will be accurate, it’s an inherently accurate round....just weight up what you want it for...if you want to Chuck loads of rounds at paper by all means go varmint or match, equally if it’s gonna be a fox basher off the top of a truck or gator then again go with the heavier barrel if you so wish although at 1-6 rounds a night I doubt your going to see the benefit of the heavier barrel...If most of its action is going to be walked up varminting then go as light as you can....by the time you’ve mounted nv or thermal, got a cheek riser etc etc you’ll be glad of the weight saved.

I have a Tikka T3x CTR. The best .223 I have shot and straight out the box it has amazing accuracy.
I would be interested in recommendations to replace a wildcat evo mod though for something lighter on this .223. TIA.

I'm torn between a tikka T 3 varmint1/8,remington 700 custom 1/7. Or a new T3 x varmint. The rifle will be used more for the range than Deer, I have enough purely stalking rifles. Got another month to make up my mind. Unless any one out there has a bargain of a 223 they are looking to move on.

Lithgow for sure, and I think I am right in saying Sauer 100 and Mauser 18 as well, all have a locking lug insert, rather than the lugs machined directly into the action. As fasr as I know, the Austrain firm Voere pioneered this system (I stand to be corrected if anybody knows better) and there were scare stories about it loosening over time and accuracy going South as a result. Maybe modern materials, manufacturing methods, tolerances & assembly mean they now stay "tight". I don't have any of them so can't comment. T3's seem to be universally popular, and cheaper than Sako.

Tikka t3 light 20" barrel had many a fox with this rifle and quite a few corvids too think you'll might regret going on the heavier barrel

Sorry Mr Fidget.
I don't understand your reply. Are you endorsing Lithgow or downing it? "Lithgow for sure".

Give wildcat a call they may be able to help make your mod lighter. That's what I did and a big improvement. Not sure if I can say more but give them a call.

As above, I have a T3 223 lite 1:12. works great and is light that helps when walking around. I did have a sidewinder scope + IR torch + bi-pod and it just added weight. How only have PARD 008 and makes it much nicer.

Do think about the rate 1:12 vs 1:8. Mine works well will 40g to 55g (not tried heavier). It just comes down to what you are using it for? Foxes drop at 200yrs with 40g

Ah. Sorry. What I meant was that I have seen the exploded parts diagram for the Lithgow and "I am sure" there is a separate piece for the locking insert.
I have nothing positive or negative to say about them.
