Legal to hunt with a catapult, but not a bow

Same reason you can own a .44 muzzle loading revolver or a box fed 12 bore semi auto assault shotgun but can’t own a single shot .22 rim fire target pistol

Cause politicians are ****s
I don't follow what you are saying there. I competed with a single shot .22 rim fire target pistol up to a few years ago when I sold it on. I could get one again with the relevant variation to my FAC.

Really? They took mine away Unique Des 69 (actually I took it to the USA and sold it there back in 1997)

There won’t be a total ban, even the greenest of green creature whisperers will concede that there needs to be some lethal control of some species, but there will definitely be far fewer people authorised to have firearms and how and where they can use them will be strictly interpreted with zero tolerance for failure to comply.
Sorry that may be the case on your side of the sea, but here there will be a total ban, except for govt employees. If there are too many deer they will poison them as they are no different to any other mammal eg Rats.

You quite sure about that ?

Target shooting being removed as a reason for pistol ownership is the crux of the effective ban.

Without a reason ( work, HD etc) you cannot get a pistol.
A target single shot is unsuitable for any good reason so I doubt you could get another one .

You don’t need a gun to do this (in their eyes) a cage trap etc could be used.

Guns = bad in society eyes, politicians will pander to the majority.

Yes, long barrel pistols and revolvers in .22RF and centre fire are still on ticket in the UK.

This is what I used

Jeez sorry but what an abortion. Hard to imagine wanting to go through those hoops to use that, then again I emigrated to Germany because of the ban as I was rather bloody minded in the 90s.

I have a Taurus LBR (.38/.357) for target.

Hate the thing, but bought it out of 'principal'.

Yeah. That will make HMG sit up and think about the ban...

It's a free pistol, used for 50m target. Interestingly the rods that give it the 60cm overall length work really well for balance and stability in this format.

Good on you

Maybe you’re right but I hope you’re wrong, aside from the outside threats we have quite a few insiders who seem endlessly disapproving of anyone else with a firearm they don’t see a need for.

I genuinely don’t see you going down the total route, but it’ll be damn close and at every phase those not affected yet will support the ban on everyone else.
Sad really.

No

That’s not a pistol.

That’s why you are allowed it, cause it’s classed as a rifle.

Had me confused there for a second , but no , I was correct.

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Classed as Long Barrel Pistol or possibly Long Barrel Revolver on any FAC it's entered on, not a rifle. Conditions of ownership and use for LBPs and LBRs are different to rifles in UK firearms legislation.

You can try justifying yourself as correct in any way you like but the legislation is clear.

Whatever dude
It’s anything but a pistol and I think you know exactly what I’m talking about.

Pistols are effectively banned and are not allowed for target shooting

That thing you own has to be a huge length so that it is not classified as a pistol

The difference between long and short firearms is all around the 30/60cm rule with min 30cm barrel and min 60cm overall length.
If it exceeds 30/60 its a long gun and sec1 for all calibres except .22 rimfire bolt/lever etc are ok. For .22 rimfire semiauto is ok as well (so a .22wmr ar15 is possible)
Where is the distinction in law between say a buckmark .22lr rifle and a buckmark .22lr LBP.
We see the distinction on certificates but is it real? No law was written defining an LBR or LBP as distinct from a long gun …not to my know, edge anyway…anyone know different?
