I'm giving away my Parker Hale 1200 .243. There's nothing wrong with it but since getting a different .243 with a moderator to use for foxing I've not used it. I'd like to pass it on to someone just starting out, an enthusiast or maybe a club to have as a rifle for prospective members to use. The rifle was given to me so I don't think it's proper to ask for any money for it.

I have a Docter scope that can be included but I'd want around £60 for it. Again, nothing wrong with it but it does owe me £60. The rings have a little shim that goes between them and the bases. I think this was a fix by a previous owner because things don't clamp up properly without it, so new rings might be needed or just use it as it is! I'll have to try and remember which way it goes in and reassemble it.

I've never done an RFD transfer but I'm sure I can figure it out if needed, or it can be collected from Devon.

Hi there my friend is just starting out deer stalking he’s waiting for he’s license to come through I’ll send you a message in the morning to explain a bit more about him think this would be perfect for him. Regards owen

I hope this finds a good home.
A lovely starter rifle for someone trying to get kitted out on a low budget.

Form an orderly queue of boring old Parker Hale farts here lol
a very long time mate here had his .243 PH converted to a 9.3 x 62 with which he has shot a schitt load of Sambar, fallow and buffalo with... a rebarrel and a custom walnut stock by Geoff Slee has made it a very non boring rifle that has taken more game than the average bloke in the UK will ever see especially those with custom whoo haaa`s
Everytime I talk to him I insist he leaves it to me in his will lol as none of his family shoot.

I’m sure this will go to the right home
I’ve done the same in the past and given away a few of my older stalking rifles to new shooter/ hunters starting out
👍👍

The fate of this fine rifle is predetermined

Will go to a young keeper. Within 1 week it will be chopped and threaded for a mod and free floated. A Hik Aloex will be fitted and a neoprene cheek riser.

It will either shoot ok or poorly since it was free floated and a heavy mod put on.

6 months later it will be handed into the local RFD for upgrading to a t3. It will sit unloved for sale at £150-£200 for a few years, after which it will go to holts auctions and be listed at £40. Here it will likely be purchased by someone like Emma Custom Rifles, who will write an elaborate essay on how fine it is, and price it at £1,450, and the PH scope rings separately at £180. It will sit there until his business is closed down and it all goes back to Holts

Nice offer. I think I have a very similar rifle. Mine requires pushing the trigger forward to remove the bolt, which I found unusual.

This is so true. There aren't many upsides to being Lefthanded. The first is not being tempted by old-fashioned tat like Parker-Hales. The second is there are no obsolete calibre rifles to fret over. The only off-the-shelf choices are a handful of decent makes chambered for standard cartridges that have withstood the test of time. Building your own just to be that little bit different isn't relevant as a true LH action already is. Whenever threads like this come up I reconsider this situation, and count my blessings. 👍:)
