Cabinet recommendations

Hi all

In the market for a new cabinet, ideally up to 4 maybe 5 guns including 2x scoped rifles.

Ideally with separate lockable box for ammo/bolts.

What do people recommend?

Thanks!

All mine are Brattonsound, and personally I much prefer the single key with vault bolts type. Realistically, you’ll need an 8 or 9 gun to get 4 or 5 rifles with scopes and/or bolts in

Have a look at Lockaway cabinets. i bought the 14.. wont ever have 14 in. but its very spacious and extremely well built.
interior comes fully lined and with a LED light.
mine has a built in Ammo box. but they do have a wide variety of options.

Delivery and customer service were exceptional also.

Biggest you can fit into your house. Extra deep and tall. Other than that it makes no difference. Gun cabinets should conform to the BS7558:1992 standard. It does not need to be marked with the standards, just conform to the principles.

Myth: it should have internal hinges. Fact: If hinges is external it should not be possible to open the door with the hinges cut off when the cabinet is locked.

Correct. I had mine bespoke made by Leicester Sheet Metal some now forty years ago to exceed that by 1/2mm the metal thicknesses in that specification.

With the way things are going these days, it's worth a look on the usual suspect internet sites to see what's available second hand to save money. Brattonsound, Infac Safe and others are good makes, but there's others. The ones that need just the one key to open are a lot handier. Or you could go the way of a combination one. They tend to cost more. Also perhaps worth looking at a separate safe for your ammo if space allows. Stand alone safes used for ammo aren't expensive because they sell more for keeping jewellery, money and the like in. Any hardware store will have those in various sizes, or the usual internet outlets.

But the best advice is to get more space than you need. Given time, the amount of guns/rifles you end up with may increase, you might, even if you aren't intending to buy more guns, buy one and later sell one, so spare cabinet space is always handy. And there's always someone whose giving up that wants to give you a firearm or sell for a pittance that you can't turn down.

I have had infac cabinets for many many years.
They are excellent
As someone said before, go for tall ,wide and deep unit. You will need deep cabinets for rifles.
Do not believe what the makers say about how many guns can be "placed" in the cabinet. It never is what they say especially when you have rifles.

Its all about the actual dimensions of the cabinet and you being able take in and out stuff without bashing other stuff.
The bigger the better, you will not regret buying a large cabinet but you WILL regret buying a small one!
Screwfix and tool station sell laptop safes
I have 2 now for ammunition storage.
I have mounted them on top of my existing infac cabinets, bolting them through the tops of the cabinets.
My cabinets are the widest infac sell so the laptop safes fit on the tops perfect.
