Tikka Rep. at the Shooting Show said this is most likely one of the quietest MODs you are likely to find for a rifle.

Spoke to a Tikka /Sako Rep. at the Shooting Show and enquired about the quietest mod available for a .223.
His answer was interesting as he spent as much time talking about peoples lack of Mod maintenance than actual products.

Anyway the STALON XE149 was the recommendation for the quietest, but his advice on aftercare was priceless.

Premium mod, anyone out there using this make / model ?

Hmmm you mean the mod that Gmk import along with Tikka is the one he recommended ....
I bet he did 😂😂
He listed others but I believed in his recommendation. I have looked at the build quality of others over some time, which I why I plan to buy the Stalon. So what would you recommend ?

It would depend on calibre , what your intending to use it for , over barrel / on end .
Stainless , titanium , aluminium

Theres more than one factor to consider. And thats before we start on budget
.223, Fox control, over barrel STALON XE149.

Stainless steel core, titanium head.

My RDF steers away from Stalon my wildcat over barrel for .17 is superb and well thought out and made

Had a new Stalon with my 308 Tika t3x,very disappointed as started getting internal damage after 45 shots of Sako factory ammo.Sent back to GMK/Manufactures and no proper explanation but had to get a variation to get replacement so the
Nice people at Ian Hodges let me change it for a wildcat.Had wildcats before and never a problem.Just my experience.

Got a W145 on my old 243 and a X149 on my newer 6.5.

Did my shooting test a while back, 250m from a small group of fellow stalkers - ok wood was dense and wind was kind, but came back and they were honestly surprised that I was done.

Really rate Stalons - can’t wait for mods to come off ticket to replace my Wildcat and DPT.

Note - I don’t range abuse - simply 5 round quarterly zero check.

Had 2 stalons both have not given me much confidence in how long they will last.

Had a demonstration from Steve at Ivythorn of several mods including a stalon. I can assure you that a Freyr and devik was dramatically quieter than the stalon.

Ah, fair comments. Sometimes whatever you buy and however much you spend issues can occur. If there was a trend I would think twice about any product. What was the physical damage ?

Fair review. I guess you look after them, spray and drain after each outing and as you know that is the key to longevity.

Have a Stalon Victor on 308 - very good sound reduction and is noticeably lightweight. Not sure on lifespan but this ones had c.200rds through it and no issues

Was the demo with a .223 ? I am still not 100% decided.

Reviews are so variable. I still maintain a lot depends on how mods are cared for as to how long they last. I have personally yet to see anything Made in Sweden that is sub standard. Of course views will differ.

Wow, plan to change from Wildcat and DPT you must really rate them. I notice very very few manufacturers give a noise reduction decibel rating on there mods, Stalon are one of the few that do and it is excellent.
