Hi after some real life recommendations for the best Kuiu lightweight waterproof jacket, can be waist length or longer, also UK stockists.
Thanks in advance Pard
Personally have the Yukon Tr think it’s great but went a size up. There are no Uk stockists kuiu is only available directly from themselves. Dont be put off by ordering directly from the site as it’s a fantastic service.
I have the Chugach as a waterproof shell jacket and trousers set. The trousers ripped on their first outing on clear-fell! Not impressed! However, the jacket has faired much better and I use it to "waterproof" a Kuiu down jacket when its cold and wet. Its VERY packable and goes into my day stalking rig when the weather is unpredictable. Sort of given up on separate waterproof trousers as my Harkila Pro trousers do all that's required.
For a heavier weight version where I'm liable to be wearing the outer all day, I use a Sitka jacket over the down jacket that stands up to abuse much better. The Chugach is a very thin shell!
Our Chugach TR jacket in Verde is purpose-built for ultralight hunting. It's waterproof, windproof & ready to handle extreme weather on the hunt. Get it at KUIU.
KUIU's experts have put together a helpful guide so that you can choose the best hunting rain gear for the specific weather conditions you'll face out on the trail.
The guide softshell with the waterproof panels is also very good and sufficient for anything but a constant downpour. Wouldn’t want to be out all day in it though in heavy rain.
Yukon is so good. Pit zips for heading up hill. Wear with a base layer underneath. Pack a super lightweight mid layer for when you stop a while. Elbows in puddles shooting prone, no drama. Dry as dry can be.
