Back to a childhood passion

I love doing it and find it very relaxing with some music, film or tv show on in the background.

Not done any planes for years, mainly wargaming miniatures. But, I did look at a UH-1 kit not long back.

Been working on these with the airbrush.
They're superb! The workmanship is amazing 👍👏

I'm enjoying losing myself in the build. It's really relaxing me, to the point where my near-constant earworms have finally buggered off!

The cockpit detail set has yet to arrive, and I think this'll be the best part!

Thank you.

Very easy to get lost in isn't it.
If you get an audiobook on, hours will pass.

You'll be buying more and more.
Its known as plastic crack in the hobby world.

I've been waiting for the cockpit upgrade to arrive. It dropped through the door today. The level of detail is incredible! I must admit to being a bit daunted by all the photoetch parts though 🤔

Made a start, anyway 👍

And then on to detailing. I think taking my time will be the key to success with this

Dig um out!!

I've just been on ebay for a 90s Dark Angels character.

Are the old WH worth money these days? Got **** loads of that lead pewter stuff somewhere (unless mum sent it to the starving Africans, along with most of me and brothers others stuff) 😢

Man child of 43 here btw, and I want my old models back now, mum!

Depends on the model I suppose, but it's bigger than ever, GW is worth about £6 billion, Henry Caville is working with Amazon and GW to make a 40k TV show (hopefully Eisenhorn).

Youd best give your mum a call, especially if you had the 40k Epic stuff, people love buying the originals of that.

I just purchased Ezekiel, the old metal one still in the blister pack from the 90s for £30.

I'm a couple of years younger than you, started in around '96 or 97'. Always dipped back into the hobby over the years.

Lovely build @Quixote

I dabble, my main passion is WWII aircraft, but I’m building a Blackbird at the moment, though it stalled a few months ago

Here’s a 1/48th Mosquito and 1/48 Spitfire from last year

Very common for modellers to get back into it after many years after enjoying it in childhood.

I started again in my 40s, found it a great diversion during stressful times in my life.

It’s well known to be a good hobby for taking your attention from other more troubling thoughts. There’s even a charity for ex military, Models 4 Heroes, who help veterans suffering with their own issues to find an absorbing hobby to get into.

The advantages of being older is having the money to buy the kits you lusted after but couldn’t afford on pocket money. I’m starting to build a bit of a kit stash that I really must get on with a bit quicker…

That's very true. I haven't actually worked out how much I've spent getting kitted out again with paints, brushes, mats, scalpels, tweezers, and the like. But I suspect that's for the best!!! And if my wife finds how much I've spent on resin upgrade kits I'll probably be smothered in my sleep 😳😆
