Absolutely.I'm surprised a game dealer would take a gut shot deer period.![]()
If he is still trading we could ask?Any game dealer who wasn't deducting for gut shot or shoulder shot deer must've been completely off his rocker. Either that or his flat-rate price was so low it didn't matter!
Absolutely zero incentive for stalkers to present better carcasses.
Sounds more like unhappy days to me.

Still dealing in gut-shot deer?Still trading
What does it payStill trading
I doubt if it was unhappy days, we got the same price off dealers in Hampshire , head shot or shoulder, the prices were often more than being offered by dealers else where in the uk, it’s probably exactly price what people are being paid today. Venison prices in the skin were 1 pound a pound for fallow and reds in the 80s 90s 2 pound a pound for roe.Any game dealer who wasn't deducting for gut shot or shoulder shot deer must've been completely off his rocker. No, deer farming is not what I do. I have no interest in farming deer whatsoever..
Deer farming which is actually what you do is a different operation,
Not sure what you're driving at here, but I do sometimes buy in carcasses, and I pay £4/kg. But they have to be headshot prickets or young does. Not interested in buying anything else.but I can guarantee that in real terms your prices are not much better
I claim the same area payments as any other landowner. There are no direct subsidies relating to the deer that I keep. However, I did get a small business grant towards the purchase of my larder, as have many other stalkers., I don,t know if you claim subsidies or not, that is your business not mine, but as you know they are available.
Not sure I just had a Google and they exist stillWhat does it pay
Oh you’d be surprised I’ve seeen some sights especially from “ qualified stalkers “I'm surprised a game dealer would take a gut shot deer period.![]()

What are prices today ? ( I am not there).
As to carcass presentation, they went field dressed straight to the dealer, strangely no one died from eating it, butchers bought it in the skin, no money making DSC involved.
For all of the alleged improvements in presentation , how much as the market actually grown per head of population. Please don,t quote % rises as we all know, 50% of nothing is nothing.

What issues with lead toxicity? How many carnivores died ??Gut shot could potentially go to zoos.
Issue recently with deer being fed to carnivores and lead toxicity occurring. They were meant to have been shot with a rifle and it transpired someone was using a shotgun... Wonder who that could have been.
Deer farming thenI do, however, have two deer parks. These are fenced areas containing herds of deer
I was chatting to a colleague. Think it was an avian setup, will check. What issues with lead toxicity? How many carnivores died ??
Nope.Deer farming then![]()
What's different, they aren't wild they are fenced in and slaughtered to sell = farmed.Nope.
Completely different.
