Going on Zambezi’s thread, don’t these chassis rust from the inside out? Having it galvanised if that’s the case won’t be of any benefit as the chassis will already be weakened. Personally, & assuming they’re available & the rest of the truck is good enough, I’d bite the bullet & buy a new chassis from Toyota, get it blasted or dipped back to bare metal, drill any additional holes necessary for galvanising, plate up any known weak areas & then get it galvanised. If you are going the whole hog and stripping down to the chassis why not sandblast it and get the damage welded up then drop it off at a galvaniser plant. It will be thinner due to the rust eating away the surface a little so the zinc will just bring it back up to spec weight![]()
If your truck is less than 12 years old get on to Toyota they are replacing the chassisThe mechanic has said it’s not worth welding it, he is surprised it’s still in one piece
After reading about the thread on Hilux chassis replacement, I contacted my local Toyota dealer, Kidlington, imIf your truck is less than 12 years old get on to Toyota they are replacing the chassis
By any chance has anyone got the details of the Polish outfit doing galvanised Hilux chassis? There’s a guy doing half chassis in Poland for about 1500 euro, probably 1800gbp delivered and duty paid to UK.
Haven’t used him but seems to decent reviews
