Roe Deer extraction for OAP's

so just hook the IKEA bag over my shoulder and take it slow.
I think it was the unbalanced walk back with the heavy weight that impacted my knee .
But yes it is time consuming to make two trips but not if the single walk back with the kit leads to an injury.

Regarding leaving the rifle in the vehicle only you will know the risks dependent on the location of it and any other precautions you take.

Great idea, I think the frame will ensure the weight is properly distributed across the body.

I shot a yearling fallow this morning, my pal suggested we carry it, I declined and said we should drag- far easier. I snapped a hamstring during Covid trying to get a fallow buck into a Honda CRV, I learnt my lesson.

Roe are still possible for me to retrieve and I love those handbag size Munties. Fallow are out, I'll shoot them and work them in a larder but not lifting, dragging, or handling, I leave that to the boys. I stopped trying at 80 as knackered leg wouldn't allow it any longer, but quite happily handled Fallow and Sika until my mid 70's. Mind you I think the Roe are increasing in size as they get harder to pull or carry.

A good friend I shoot with has had a hard working life and despite being 70 he is a lot stronger then me but struggles to bend or kneel. He always goes out with someone else and lets them do the heavy work, and rightly so 👍

Haha this will be me then but it’s sika.

The ground is shall we say steep and in parts wet and plain awkward. Carrying one of them out is not the easy option and £100 for some drag system that tears on the first go does not light my fire

You can get ice fishing drags for £10 for 2. Basically like one of the expensive deer drags but at that price disposable

I had a look for ice fishing drag but no luck, but found this. Looks OK & can be used by two people & presumably one person if stalking alone.
