Fitting an Arca Swiss plate to a T3X

I’m wanting to fit an Arca Swiss plate to my t3x roughtec and would like some advice/pictures from anyone who may have already done this. How did you fit it and what plate did you use? There’s a couple of specifically made plates from the States which look the proper job but can’t seem to find anything available online in the UK, other than standard camera type ones…….but this maybe suitable. Don’t want to drill holes in my stock unless I’m sure of what I’m fitting. Thank you.

Take a look at Anarchy Outdoors in the US mate, they ship to UK no problem.

Otherwise I've used threaded inserts screwed & glued and then used bolts to go through arca rail. Leaves a nice decent finish too 👌🏻

This may start you off...

Threaded Inserts

I fitted a 120mm arca swiss plate (Amazon) to my T3x lite.
Using the holes already in the plate for reference I drilled through the fore-end. Careful to miss the internal lattice supports. The plate was held in place with stainless cap head bolts, nylon lock nuts and washers, the latter had to be trimmed to fit in between the lattice
It was very rigid and looked okay but I couldn't get on with quickly mounting it in the dark so went back to using a saddle clamp🙄

Brought a bolt of arca plate in a Black Friday sale (can’t remember who from now, but cost about £15!) sent it off to the gun smith and he fitted it! I’ll try to post some pictures later.

Edit: I got one of these Black Rifle PRS Bolt On ARCA Rail - 200mm

I did get the 105mm though

Thanks, I’ll have look at their website. The threaded inserts certainly look useful.

I fitted an Arca plate to a gun recently. That was a wooden stock. The rifle stock ones you can get in the UK are 200mm long.

What you'll find is that most smaller plates that look right are for m-lok. Mlok has lumps on the back for want of a better word. I ground these off and used inserts with counter sunk screws.

Arca plate for m-lok is pretty easy to find and not expensive.

That was my experience as well. I tend to walk a lot so much prefer the ease of using a saddle clamp rather than Arca Swiss. Great on a long lens pain on the rifle in the dark. Your mileage may of course differ.

Obviously inserts work pretty well in a wood stock. Should be okay in a plastic stock if you glue them from the back but can't comment on specifics of that gun.

Plate was under a tenner.

I fitted one on my T3x lite.
Because the forend is so slim & the Arca rail would protrude either side, i first fitted a T3x Varmint forend grip...flatter & wider & modular using the existing stock screw position. To fit the Arca i had to use a longer screw (M5) into the above screw point, i then drilled through the stock to the rear of the Arca ( missing the web inside the stock) and fixed with cap head allen screw, washer & lock nut.

I used the one that came with the ball head mount, call me cynical but I believe arca swiss amied at shooters tends to be overpriced camera equipment.
Anyway, I fitted my reasonably priced plate onto my quite heavy rifle (laminate stock), if you can flatten the area where you attach it, it will sit better, I'd also bolt through the stock rather than screw into it and if you can include epoxy between the plate and stock and also the nuts I'd recommend it. In my case I also mounted on the balance point of the rifle to allow smoother tracking and also to allow the head to be locked and the rifle held securely in place while not being held

I got mine shipped from Mountain Tactical in the US - great quality and no requirement to drill the stock.

Would appear they are out of stock at the moment but would recommend,

Thanks, I had seen those ones and thought they looked good. Can you remember what it cost to have it shipped from the states?
