Recent British Deer Society funded research has determined UK born Muntjac are subject to an environmentally induced genetic disorder that impacts featal development of the extremities. The most visible indicator being that of limbs appearing grossly disproportionate ('stunted') when compared to that of body depth & girth.
Further research is required to determine the cause of this selective bone development issue but it is not thought such relates to the use of pesticides or heavy metals.
While this will no doubt be of interest to those who've long considered the toy-like aesthetic of Muntjac to be very 'wrong', the BDS is keen to make clear there's zero risk to human health from consumption of this flavoursome venison.
