I know there are a lot of variables , work commitments, family commitments, deer density, how far you have to travel etc but genuinely interested to know about recreational stalkers contribution .

Not for the professionals who do it for a job.

Between 100 and 500 for me. No idea on exactly number mind, probably more around the 2-300 mark being mostly red and roe with the odd muntjac + cwd added for good measure.

Just topped 350 in the last 8 years, tried to take it up in the mid 90s but job, family house all conspired to stop me until much later in life, finally re-engaging in 2017 with numbers steady increasing as opportunities increased. Most probably at my zenith now as I have to process all of the carcasses myself and I’m not getting any younger 🙇‍♂️

I think it depends on a lot of factors , work commitments , family etc but also how long youve been at it , personally over 20 years so over the 2000 mark but I also think that willingness to get out plays a huge part , point in case I phoned a lad who was moaning to me that hed not shot a deer in months to come out this weekend , the reply " oh i cant im off to the stalking show " you really couldnt write it

I’m well over the 2000 mark, never been paid, next year if my rifle is not sold I will be in my 25th season.

When I was younger I was out nearly every day, I had written permission over 20k acres, now I have 600 acres and don’t care if I squeeze the trigger or not.

Yep I’ve kicked more than 1 young stalker into touch because they can’t get their arse out of bed, most of the modern day young generation are not worth the effort.

I shot my first deer - a nine-point Sutherland red - in 2010 when l was 55 years old.

I have now snivelled my way into a couple of local farms totalling about 1,000 acres, where l help out by taking approximately 15-20 deer per year, all munties, CWD or roe.

l don’t pay for my stalking or charge for my venison, so l can happily “fall between the cracks.”

l’m now 70, fit and strong, and the only things that will stop me are politicians (*spit*) or decrepitude.

Pretty pointless poll that. The recreational stalker may be aged 20 or 80.
Seems a pretty interesting poll to me and will be interesting to see if the "braggers" admit to what they shoot rather then putting down those of us who havent got 1,000s of deer within 1 field of where they live.

I reckon I have shot just over 110 deer since I started.. though I shot 55 last year and at 19 year to date so getting "better".

What do you reckon on your numbers mate...has to be over 2,000. Will be interesting to see if Terminator Timmy has his big boy pants on and gives you a figure (I wont see it)...since he likes to belittle us all the time saying we would get a lifetime out of a knife as it takes us that long to shoot 60 deer   Lots of those who give but dont like it back 👍

I am under 10 in total and struggling to find a permission with deer and i am 69yrs old .
I do paid stalking from Kent to Hereford and Hampshire.
Been out with Timmy as you call him a few times verry blunt does not like C--ts but yes he does have that number of deer to shoot.
He made me skin a red never again Tim :old: next time I see him i will be tacking him some spray can's for the winch and cart..

That explains why we don't get on as me and Tim are the same .... both dislike whats in bold above and I think we both fall into that category

Lets see what number he posts as it will be interesting....unless he's scare .."all fur coat and no knickers"

I know guys who are happy to share their experience without being a tool and they have shot way more deer then Timmy will ever shoot .. they have shot more deer in a week then I will shoot in 10 years but they are professionals so that wont count.
