Whats in your stalking kit?

Sub binos for thermal - we’re not getting any younger. 😆

Add disposable gloves, a mobile phone, a length of para cord with a bit of inserted hosepipe for dragging and suspended gralloch, first aid kit and permission from the wife and your good up to fallow. 😆
I actually prefer to use my binos, think that’s part of what I enjoy when I’m out, the glassing 😂 I’d add the gloves and the permission from the Mrs 😂 I had started picking up all the tools I had seen lads posting that were great but then found I nearly needed a rucksack, so I bring the bare essentials and if I have to go back for the jeep anyways I’ll just gralloch and leave em lay where they are til I’m back 😂

Rifle, ammo, knife, radio ( if hunting in pairs) sticks, water, phone, this is local.
If down on sika, 7 days dry food, coffee, msr, sleeping bag , first aid kit , gps, tent, change of clothes, wet weather gear, 40 ltr day bag fly sheet, knife ,gun, ammo, paracord, eperp, head light and battery’s and a book in case the weather turns to crap, and a helicopter 😁

My start up kit is:

Waist bag with torch, dental floss (tie gralloch, biodegrades) whistle, gloves, knife x2, ear pro, tourniquet, celox, sam splint and israeli bandage, bag for dirty gloves. May include a hand towel.

Rifle plus ammo plus slip with straps.

Binos +/- thermal.

But I'm also the guy who carries about a kilo of stuff in his pockets normally so the above may be overkill.

FEO interview yesterday so very hopeful, hear back next week if all goes to plan.
Liking the floss!

Rifle, thermal spotter ,knife, deer drag ,sticks ,couple of pairs nitrile gloves ,protein bar and most importantly ammunition 🤣.
Not admitting to leave it at home 🫣🤫🤣

fully agree i find with folk the amount of kit they carry reflects the experiance
I carry:
Rifle/scope
Sticks
Roe sack
thermal
first aid kit + cellox
Phone
Garmin emergency locator.
compass
Strobe
Toilet roll
Knife x 2
Drag rope
Headtorch
Survival bag
drinks and food..
nitrile gloves

Not all the time, only when I;m lone stalking..

Rifle, scope, moderator, ammuntion, binoculars, quad sticks, knife, nitrile gloves and antibac wipes (no spaghnum moss here) for lowland stalking.
No quad sticks for upland stalking, but add bipod, sandwiches, a mars bar and water.
I forgot to include extra strong mints.....good way to prevent coughing after a long stalk in on an animal.

First aid kit
Phone
Spot tracker
Gralloching gloves
Tracking lead
Thermal
Binoculars
Small torch
Whistle

  1. Rifle.
  2. Thermal binoculars (multi spectral - one less thing to carry)
  3. Knife
  4. Chest saw
  5. Nitrile gloves
  6. Wipes (also useful as toilet paper)
  7. Suspended gralloch kit
  8. First aid
  9. Torch
  10. Batteries for torch/scope/thermal
  11. Rolled up decathlon bag for extracting (can just fit a 45kg odd fallow)

I stalk woodland/field mixed. The car isn't far but if I'm deep in the wood then I don't want to walk back and forth for extraction kit and I can't drag to the truck and Gralloch there because it's on the landowner's doorstep.

All of this fits in/on my Kuiu Bino harness with the water bladder bag on the back

When I was new to stalking I carried lots of stuff.
Now I carry very little.
You live and learn.
When I started I carried very little, limited funds and growing family.

Now I have more expendable income and carry more crap than I need!! I am now going full circle and thinning out.

I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now ;)

Most dental floss isn’t biodegradable…
