Has anyone bought a stock direct from MDT and had problems with getting it through UPS / UK Customs ?

I'm having trouble with UPS saying that what I've bought, a stock and mag, is a firearm and I have to fill out a import form and show my licence.

I'm getting great support from MDT customer service but the issue lies at this end as nobody picks up the phone or replies to emails., and when I get a reply it's another form to fill out.

Frustrating.

Its UPS, are they asking you to fill out a RIF form?
 
It’s a form for Realistic Immitation Firerams, RIF. they won’t release your stock without filling the form, but just put n/a or not required everywhere appropriate, and they’ll leave you alone normally
 
Ups seem to be a problem when importing, as it took over a week 2 sort everything out with them. Phone calls ,emails but eventually got there in the end ,and it was my contact number they were looking for after 2 r 3 stages of getting it released...
 
I had the same problem, I even called in person to the ups office explaining that it's not a firearm it's only a chassis, the manager was understanding but the computer says no, I then filled in the form ticking box and entered firearms number, following day chassis was released and delivered
 
It's frustrating that I've been dealing with this for a week with very little communication from UPS other than wanting more information a few days after being given information they requested. There 'helpline' is next to useless and trying to speak to a person from that department is a waste of time, I was on hold for nearly an hour.
I've emailed the person who's dealing with it today, asking for confirmation of receipt of the forms. I'll not hold my breath!
 
I’ve previously imported stocks using UPS. I can’t recall the form name, but I filled it in and sent a copy of my FAC. The stocks arrived shortly after

Chase them every day otherwise they will bill you for storage. Just fill in your FAC details on the RIF.doc. I had to do that for a Picatinny rail.

I’ve been through it several times with UPS, all they care about is the RIF form being filled in.
It’s it’s a non-licensable part, tell them on the form, you don’t need to give them your FAC number or anything else.
 
I had exactly the same problem I believe it's a deliberate ploy by UPS to delay and charge you for storage. Fortunately for me I got the MDT Customer service team involved and I got my chassis all be it a couple of weeks late. But no cost no showing of FAC
 
The stock has finally been delivered.
During the back and forth with UPS I'd been emailing Alexis at MDT, who was an absolute diamond, even filling out forms for me. Apparently MDT have this issue from time to time with the customs clearance and RIF forms at our end.
As I'd never imported anything like this before it's been a learning curve with the forms.
Getting hold of UPS was near impossible and them replying to an email was slow and it took nearly a week to get it all sorted. On the positive side MDT were fantastic. Quick to reply to my questions and extremely helpful with the forms, I just had to remember the time difference of 7 hours.

Welcome to the world of post Brexit customs, where every single import from anywhere in the world is now subject to an underpaid and overworked customs official. Big high value commercial loads for bid customers get priority. Some a little out of the ordinary gets put in the too difficult pile. The most frustrating thing is that you have no ability to speak with any one.

I started my career in Africa. Customs were a bloody nightmare. But you could speak directly with a customs officer and negotiate an appropriate transaction fee to have your goods moved through the warehouse. But border posts in Africa were always backed for days if not weeks. Friends who do business in Africa just worked on weeks to get goods moved about.

On the day of our final withdrawal from the EU, most African countries opened up a free trade area with no customs posts at the border.

UK customs is an utter joke. Clients have had goods sitting in UK customs for 6 weeks awaiting shipment to Australia and South Africa. They have resorted to sending engineers down with parts for machinery going as checked luggage. And have seen plenty of business with UK firms now insisting that all supllies of components are from out with the UK - I have seen companies setting up facilities in Romania, Netherlands, India, Australia,Thailand and South Africa (all at the expense of UK jobs) to produce or assemble products for the International market.

The only benefit to UK economy is profits and the odd licence fee remitted back to the head holding company. We have lost thousands jobs both directly abd in the supply chain, all of which would have paid taxes and contributed to the UK economy.
