Anyone stayed or local too the area? Need too figure out what hotels in the area are reputable and not eye gouging in price.
So far found the Central for £250 for the 3 nights 2 beds what Is more than fair, but obviously no clue how the company is etc.

Idea was 20th of august roe are done rutting and mostly vanish where oct 20th reds are still rutting.... completely forgot about the price of summer and winter in terms of accommodation, oops!

Just checked £150 for october, £250 for august. 🤦‍♀️

Perthshire's a big place. Whereabouts are you heading?

Killin Hotel is one option. Station Hotel in Aberfeldy is another. I couldn't find any accommodation near Kinloch Rannoch.

Good luck.

If you stay in Aberfeldy, have a meal in the "Three Lemons". When we last stayed, we never had a bad meal in the place. It was a few years ago, though, and things change.

Main reason for being up there is DSC1 doing the four day course through BASC so driving from SW D&G too Perth is a bit of a treck, better too book in with someone. 👍

Several years ago I met friends staying at Dunalastair Hotel which had very recently been done up and was lovley inside. I was camping .

Also several years ago I bed and breakfasted at what is now The Ballinluig Inn. That has been done up since I stayed there. The owners were very welcoming even though they knew we were up for the deer. That location was awesome being right next to the A9.

When I’m heading up north the tradition is that we break the journey, typically being after work on the Friday night, at Perth TravelLodge then head on to get breakfast at House of Bruar as it opens on the Saturday. The TravelLodge is not awful, pretty conveniently located on the A9. If I had more money I would stay at the Atholl Estate.

I personally love the Meikleour arms, if staying for 3 or more nights, they have some absolutely lovely self catered cottages on the estate (the stables and the one in the village are the newest).

Food there is not the cheapest. But in terms of hotel rate (included full breakfasts) I feel like it's very good for what you get!

They also have gun storage!! (From memory, 4 separate shotgun safes, which "should" fit 1 scoped rifle each)

Alternatively, there's the Tayside in Stanley for a classic pub hotel at good rates.

Just down the road from me, well recommended !

Friend of mine has a self catering cabin a few miles north of Blair Atholl - might not quite be what you're after but probably a bit cheaper than a hotel. Depending on what vehicle you arrive in, they also ferry you in across the river in a pinzgauer if need be

Snap - not the best and not the worst. Done that twice now and I’ll probably be doing it again this October 🙇🏻‍♂️

I have used the Schiehallion hotel in Aberfeldy while stalking in the area ( booked again for November). And used the Royal Hotel in Dunkeld regularly when I was working.
Both good, not to fancy and reasonably priced.

Could always try the AileanChraggan (The Craggs as it is more commonly known!), just outside Aberfeldy, not expensive and used to dealing with deer stalkers. Decent bar, decent food and good atmosphere.

There used to be a modest hotel at Struan. It was run by a stalking guide so ok with guns and odd hours, cant see it listed, hope it has not gone. Had some nice food in there whilst holidaying with my Mrs.
