Found a huge lump of glue id put in the barrel channel of the stock when i got the gun intended to stop the swivel rotating.Im optimistic this 2mm thick 2 pence sized blob of rock hard glue has been causing my rifle its zeroing problems in throwing shots everyplace 6 inches high low etc when its hot. Possible pressure point contorting the barrel???.Anyways i hope thats the reason--Stupid thing to do when i think on it now but--ho hum .

When the barrel is fired if it’s touching something like that it doesn’t always come back to exactly the same spot giving you poor groupings iv had this problem with a Sako it’s quite easy to sort best of luck

Failing to deploy the following is where you went wrong from the get-go:

Determining the appropriate counter bore size relative to the swivel thread diameter would have delivered a neat 'pool' for the epoxy to flow into prior to sanding flat to barrel channel. No mess and super-professional looking.
Fixing sling stud

i think the gist is when you have a blob or hardened glue in the stocks barrel channel above your swivel it can possibly cause a pressure point thus maybe causing my rifle to be erratic in its accuracy

Ok, so I assume sling swivel then. Yes, very likely the culprit if it remotely touches the barrel. File it down to follow the curvature of the inletting. But, had this always been the issue, or is the rifle new to you and came like that with such issues?

You might want to address a poorly fitted sling swivel if it needs such gluing.

Remove it and re test! if not get some JB weld and make a better job of fitting it back in place. This would be my first port of call. Barrel channel should be free of possible obstruction to allow free harmonic movement.

I remember reliving some material from the Rem 700 fore-end in a most proficient way Paul.
A half moon farriers file. Now x2 £20.00 notes slide all the way along.

Had similar on mine, used a Dremel carefully to take away the wood, and had to have my mate re machine the sound moderator rear bush, as was fouling the barrel sometimes?

Im getting there --slowly-- takes a lot more thought in taking the shot than with my .243.Overall im pleased the guns not needing repaired and im further forward in the transition to a heavier calibre.I was just saying to Ed there up at edinburgh rifles ,ill use it during the rut this year i think.4d67f05c-7e66-45cb-9954-254ec581b254.webp

I would use it all the time and kick the 243 back into the cupboard personally
