Balistic tip , plastic or metal , pro and con

Then there is the other issue about micro plastic from the destroyed tip being left in the environment, very little of course compared to plastic bags flying about in the countryside but should we all not be doing our bit for the health of the small animals that nibble grass etc? Hornady do not care it seems and how many millions of these tips get shot per year worldwide?

Plastic tips - tits on a bull
They do nothing more than impact external BC
Pull the tips and run the same bullet as a hollow point and you will see and increase in expansion. Tested them in clay and gel
Most ballistic tipped bullets that expand violently or have a reputation for expansion at range do so because the meplat is a very thin jacket
Compare ELD-X vs ELD-M

Metal tips with flat perpendicular shoulder to the meplat are much less significant than those with radial junctions to the hollow point
Peregrine are the latter
Tapping the tip (of the bullet!) on the table will nitiate meplat expansion
The rear of the hollow point has a radial surface like the back of a trumpet
Seen it tested a fair amount of times over the years , truth is no decernable difference even at extended distances ( though at longer range i feel wind will mess with the results on occasions )

Yeah, because the tiny plastic tips on bullets have such a large impact on the environment.

This kind of idiocy is utterly mind blowing. Never mind all the natural plastics (bioplastics) found in the environment.

I swear some of the eco nuts on this boards just boggles the mind. Then they are the same ones whining about the economy, jobs and better pay.:cuckoo:

Virtue signal much?

No point worrying with the lead ban and the majority of shooters buying the cheapest steel loads they can get soon .

I'm already seeing plastic wads on my grounds from my testing steel over the last two winters because I tell you now I'm not buying expensive bull**** wads!

I am extremely honest when I say, not the environment is my issue 😇, the performance of the bullet is , I know many people will don’t like me now, but I can’t be fake
Before to judge, must think about numbers
All plastic waste in UK is representing 1% globally, ( 50% of plastic waste is from packaging)
I will prefer fish and chips in newspapers, 😂
