Well after 16 yrs of reloading looks like I have finally got a case of separation.
This is in my .204,Norma brass, annealed ,twice fired with 27.7grs of N140 with 40gr Vmax.
Crushed & straight in the brass bin for this fella🥵🥵

Very interesting separation after a second shot. I haven't seen this other than in 303 unknown number of firings in 4 different chambers.

Had a few of them over the years - all from “once-fired” cases which came with the rifle. In a worst case (sorry) scenario the front half can jam in the chamber - never happened to me but I do always use the sharpened bent wiper blade stiffener trick to detect any as part of the reloading process.

Have a couple i have collected over the years
Not mine i must add .
1st a 7 × 64 hornaday brass( 2 reload so he said ) this guy had a bag full of them and most of the fired one's showed seperation.
2nd
6.5 creedmore factory S&B not reloads
(new rifle + factory ammo ) a good % of fired brass was the same i suppose he was more interested in getting his new toy zeroed than checking the fired brass ?

We were shooting at Catterick yesterday. A friend had 5 Lapua 223 cases fully separate in the chamber. He had reloaded them only three times. All broken bits came out fine with a cleaning rod. And then another guy had a box of factory PPU 308. The cases looked like they had been annealed around the centre of the case, and then when he fired a few, holes appeared in the same place!!!
