Very interesting separation after a second shot. I haven't seen this other than in 303 unknown number of firings in 4 different chambers.Well after 16 yrs of reloading looks like I have finally got a case of separation.
This is in my .204,Norma brass, annealed ,twice fired with 27.7grs of N140 with 40gr Vmax.
Crushed & straight in the brass bin for this fella![]()

Stuck front half cost a friend a .223 barrel.Had a few of them over the years - all from “once-fired” cases which came with the rifle. In a worst case (sorry) scenario the front half can jam in the chamber - never happened to me but I do always use the sharpened bent wiper blade stiffener trick to detect any as part of the reloading process.

Why?Stuck front half cost a friend a .223 barrel.
Couldn't remove it without a try with a reamer.Why?
Wow - sounds brutal. I've seen and done a few with a cleaning rod down the barrelCouldn't remove it without a try with a reamer.
Reckon chamber must have had a defect allowing the brass to hold.Wow -

Was planning on doing some bin diving to get some once fired brass ready for my brothers new toy but think he’ll be better off buying some decent factory ammo & starting from that!Factory Hornady 223… several cases split out of the same box, plus one with a primer in the wrong way around![]()
