Unusual Sika Stag

I shot this on my ground that I took on this year. It is a few miles from ground that I used to look after, and we shot a good number of stags there that each showed a similar palmation of the left antler. I have posted pictures of them on here before.

This one, as can be seen from the photos, has only 3 points on a noticeably shorter antler that is normal in growth with no damage, although the brow tine has been broken. Again this malform, if it can be called that is on the left side. No palmation though. I can't help but wonder if this is still all connected to whatever genetics caused the palmation on the stags we used to shoot a good few years ago.

This was a young stag and probably in what should have been its first year as an 8 pointer. It went 100lbs and is fairly typical antler wise of young stags on us.

Thought it may be of interest to see...

Oddities do pop up now and again but generally Japanese Sika are very regular.
