Grouping significance

Having worked up a load for my new rifle (grouping at 3/4 inch @100) I then started adjusting seating depth to try and tighten the group up.

Is there anything significant to be learnt when a grouping at one COL is a horizontal spread and then at another COL it is a vertical spread ?

I have also had this occur when working up a load.

An interesting read but obviously a 'gunwriters' article, still dealing in hocuspocus! No tangible detail there.

I worked up five loads at all the same COL and got a distinct horizontal "group" at the highest end of the charge.
The three lowest all produced three shot groups that were almost vertical (more shots might have dispelled that theory but they were basically above each other!)
by far the most accurate was the charge that was roughly 10-15% lower than factory (estimated at 2700f/s vs the factory 3015f/s)
