I have owned Remington 700s for over 45 years, since I was a boy, from ADL to Sendero, M24, M40. I have had no problem adjusting the trigger to whatever I wanted for hunting or distance work. I own a Tikka T3 Lite in .30-06 and it has a very good trigger out of the box, but all of my adjusted factory M700 triggers are better. Mine are not the new trigger. Remington and Winchester did not need to change their triggers, but marketing managers are not too bright.
The T3 and the M700 VSF are totally different rifles. The T3 is a 6 pound joy to carry afield, 7 lbs with a normal scope. The 700 VSF is 8.5 lbs empty, with a 26 inch barrel, and 10 lbs scoped and loaded, minimum. They both will shoot way better than 1 MOA with good ammunition.
I have installed Timney triggers in rifles for friends who thought they needed one. I had a Canjar trigger on an M700 .308, but for the shoe and some other adjustments, not the way it pulled or broke.
