​I'm not going to ignite a debate on barrel cleaning but I clean mine after every shoot no matter what.
This had led to a lot of use of rod, the cover buggered and rumpled up(consintina) which ment I couldn't use it so had to cut it off. I now couldn't use it and I don't want to buy new one.

Heat shrink. Got some 3.5mm from maplins. Slid over cooked it up it shrunk down tight better than the first cover.
Rod is better than new. Barrel clean all is good
 
Not a CZ is it, the standing ejector eats rods, and my Annie wasn't much better, a bore guide is the answer.

Good idea but get a Tipton, especially for the 17 calibre, as they're carbon fibre and much stiffer than the other rubbish around like Dewey.
