  1. Fridge advice.

It was discussed a long time back but may be a solution to a problem. My double drinks fridge has a problem somewhere. Not looked yet but it has started tripping the earth. No shame. It has been through the wars. Was under a tarp when I got it. Has run at a constant 3 degrees every time it has...

Just acquired a Sako 85 in 25:06. Bare rifle. Need to set up for a Swarovski 8x56 in 30mm. Anyone got a set of mounts and rings to suit. Blued barrel. Blocks or rail, not fussed. Once on it stays? Thanks, Jim
  3. Hard shift for an old man.

What a heat today. Since we lost the lease on a bit of ground my high seat palace has been redundant. Tied to the side of my back fence I was wondering if it would ever go out again. As I have just move on to a new bit of ground I decided to give it a bit of a refurbish. Hopefully it will prove...
  4. For Sale: Benelli Essential 12 bore Semi Auto.

I have been offered a deal I cannot refuse or afford. Basically it is a major upgrade on this gun. I can afford the difference if this one sells. As it came, no box and three chokes. About five hundred cartridges through it. No problems and nice handling gun. If it sells it is a Benelli I will...
  5. Binocular harness recommendations

Having cricked my neck, probably laden up with stuff for the pigeon hide, I find even my binoculars pull like crazy. I am looking to invest in a harness for Swarovski rangefinders. Comfort and fit for purpose key factors. I am big, 52 inch chest and waste not far behind. What are you using, thanks.
  6. What tyres, all terrain.

Looking to reboot my hilux, 265/70/17. BFG is my usual go to but seems a selection at about half the price. I do a lot of road mileage. Any success of the other brands. Recommendations please.

  8. For Sale: .308 Mauser action, not screwcut

For sale, 308 stalking rifle. Bought for the hill but the 25-06 makes it redundant. Accurate setup with an S&B 8x56. 10. Wanted: Sako 85 bases and rings 30mm

Looking for sako bases and rings for a sako 85 in .223 to accept an S&B 2.5-10 x 56 scope. There was difficulty fitting it to my sako 75 in 25-06 as it fouled the barrel so needs high rings. Advice and offers appriciated.
  11. Ballistic turrets.

I see posts on ballistic turrets for Swarovski. I have a standard scope with adjustment rings and covers. Can I change the top ring for ballistic to give me three set ranges? Or is it just replacing the tower type. As usual I want something simple.
  12. Double or treble meanings

Following on from Sako 75’s pup thread where a simple sentence was misread. No breeding clause on the pedigree. Double meaning. I wonder how many others are floating around. on entering Carnwath you are greeted with a sign, Slow Golfers Crossing. Have you seen any on your travels,
  13. Ceracote, good idea?

Just got my first stainless complete with stainless mod. Lovely combination but in use it might as well be a light sabre. Is ceracote suitable and viable to dull down a stainless?
  14. Which factory ammo for Sako 25- 06

Ok as header says I have just bought a Sako Stainless 75 in 25-06. Next job is to fire it up. As a popular model I am sure there must be recommendations for roe and Sika without me going through too much trial and error. What would you suggest? I don’t reload.
  15. What optics for a Grand

Watching through treads looking for a scope to stick on my new stalking rifle ( not wanting knobs and dials everywhere.) the mind boggles. 4-12 would be enough magnification. Not going out too far. What should I be watching for? At times I need more than 6 but favour a 6x42 on my roe woodland...
  16. Thermal

Looking at the brochure does not give a good result in the expecting of what you will get for your money. Looking at investing. If I am spending a couple of grand on a new toy what can I reasonably expect. FC leases give points for thermal I believe. But what do they classify as thermal. Is one...
