Any guys know of good rust removal method? Some say hoppes rust solvents etc any tried and trusted methods ? Looking to reblu whole lot when cleaned up

If you are looking, anyway, to re-black then try Evaporust available from Henry Krank. Or...try boiling the barrel in water and then use wire wool to remove the loose rust which should then leave a BLACKED area underneath. After all re-blacking is no more nor less than simply rusting, boiling, re-rusting and re-boiling with "carding" (removing the rust loosened by the boiling) with wire brish or wire wool. Good Luck!

Look online, there is a method using electric,, anode/cathode type thing
maybe for copper though?
Electrolytic Rust Removal aka Magic - Instructables

what ever you do dont use this method on gun barrels, the idea of using anode/ cathode is that the anode is sacrificial, ie metal moves from the anode (your gun barrel) to the cathode, in other words you are removing metal from your gun barrel, not a clever idea
it is the same process as plating but instead of extra metal being atracted to your barrel it is being removed
why not take it to a good gunsmith and ask their advice

better safe than sorry,,,,,or dead

I had some rust patches and followed the advice on here, as post 2, ultra fine wire wool and oil and work round the barrel not along it, excellent results, blueing not affected and rust removed. Tom
