    metric proof marks damascas barrels

I bought a SXS today A Gales barnstaple, 30" damascas barrels double trigger but the proof marks under the barrels are metric bnp 18.9 70-12 No older imperial marks unless they've been ground off.

Seems a little odd. Anyone shed any light on this??

    thanks john

It could of been re-barreld and been for proof testing I can't see any reason to strike back barrels enough to remove proof marks or grind them off!

can you rebarrel damascas? Do they still make them?

You would be amazed at what can be done by a skilled barrel man. It has proof marks I wouldn't worry I would just enjoy the gun
