I bought a .22 contender pistol in Paris in 1989 and it was a doddle to buy and also to bring back to the UK as it there was space on my FAC for one.

No problem at the UK end as all you need is a suitable vacant slot on your FAC - no import licence required as your FAC is your authorisation to import.

Issues might arise at their end depending on how familiar they are with transferring lawfully held firearms to other EU States. They must obtain a 'Transfer Licence' from their own authorities/police and it accompanies the firearm to the UK. It only needs one desk jockey who isn't willing to get up to speed with the provisions of the EU Weapons Directive, plus a dealer unwilling to push it along, and you could have problems.

Slightly inland but worth the extra effort http://www.riffaut.com/

He can arrange everything for you to simply collect if you scan your passport, FAC and EFP and email them to him beforehand.

It's the calibre of the shooter that counts not the calibre of the rifle.
