    Atn x sight

Hi how do you guys rate these? I'm told there are a few issues.

Hi Dan, there were a few issues with reticle shift etc but these have been rectified with the latest firmware update.

May i refer you to http://www.facebook.com/scottcountry where our BETA testers from magazines, and independent UK hunters have reported their findings.

If you would like to try one before you buy, we can supply on a 7 Day Demo service.

    Best Regards

    Paul

As above - I thoroughly rate mine. Have shot it on everything from 17HMR to 270......

I've got one and it really does the job. Original set up glitches are gone and personally I think is a really good day/night scope.

I have tried one and while it maybe a half reasonable day scope replacement with lots of questionable electronic extras it is in no way a replacement for a decent NV setup, the night time performance compared to equivalently priced NV is poor.

ATN also released the scope without proper testing and allowed the customers to do it for them.

Indeed I would agree in part Anthony, X Sight is a day/night scope, so a full colour HD clarity day scope, which with a push of a button will convert to a night vision scope.

Whilst it is perfect for air rifle, rimfire and .17HMR as well as short to mid range centrefire work at night, it is not a long range night vision foxing tool. That crown is left for the dedicated NV gear.

As for ATN pre releasing, i agree, the firmware bugs should not have been present, but as we have worked our behinds off to ensure it is done quickly, our BETA testers (some on this forum) have reported very good results with the new firmware which should be here this week according to ATN!

    Regards

I completely agree with the first point - but I don't know of a decent commercially available NV set up with this capability (let's single out zoom as a starter) at this price point. What I use for foxing costs way more than this, and I would consider this at middling centrefire distances without question. Classification and comparison of this unit is difficult because of what it is. It ain't a Drone Pro - I get that - but I can have two of these for the cost of one of those and do 90% of the job and have a more useable day scope with higher mag - so I don't think we can slam it just on it NV performance, because it's not claiming to be an NV specialist.

As to testing on customers - not saying it's right, but Microsoft have done it rather successfully for the last couple of decades and they still dominate the market.

The Drone Pro is better in every way that really matters day or night apart from the zoom function, which as far as I am aware has either not been fixed yet or has only just been fixed with the latest firmware release, some 4 months after the scope was first for sale, but as you have said the Drone is a lot more money so bloody well should be better.

A Photon is a better/cheaper NV scope than the X-Sight, the X-Sight I tried would not have done me out to HMR ranges let alone any form of centrefire use. Personally if I must have just one scope I would rather have a proper day scope and an NV add-on rather than some dual purpose effort that is not as good as either, but each to their own.

....not sure that's one scope then Anthony...!! But you're right. The X-Sight is a compromise - but in my eyes a good one at a keen price. IR source is important for the NV side. I've been bashing bunnies at 140 on the HMR with it, and Piggies on the 270, both at night. I'd have no hesitation in using it on Charlie. If the weather holds I'm planning on using it in the day on a deer cull over the weekend. Take that as you will but it means I trust it to do a good job - each will make their own decisions, but I would recommend people give it a proper chance rather than dismissing it out of hand.
