If you look on the NRA Bisley website they will have a list of affilated Clubs there should be some fiarly close to your area.
If you intend joining make sure that you have range shooting on your FAC and range ammunition also on your FAC some clubs will not permit expanding ammo to be used - it's easier if you reload then you can buy FMJ bullets.
Most clubs will require you to take a probationary membership for 6 months and provide range instruction - be patient!!

    Good luck

This is the NRA link - National Rifle Association of the UK | NRA | Weblinks | NRA Affiliated Clubs
Scroll down most have links to club secretaries etc.
I don't know the Plymouth area that well other than the ferry port!
You can also ask your Devon constabulary Firearms Licensing Dept they are required to keep records of Club secretaries and the type of guns used - will save you time and hassle.

I believe you are right. They, like many others, evolved after the pistol ban

You could try Budleigh farm club in moretonhampstead. www.budleighfarm.co.uk. It is usually fairly quiet there, expanding ammo is fine.
