Thread: skull crown

    skull crown

    hi all as ive just got my first ever roe buck im wondering if there is any nice people close to Newcastle on tyne that has a jig for crowning the skull .
    and secondly could they do it for me please
    I,m going to set about cleaning it today ........hopefully I can aquire a pan big enough .....charity shops here I come

    suggest you dont cut it as yet, easy to mount as complete skull. I use stainless steel bucket on gas ring add bit of biological washing powder + vanish or alike and boil out. Note mine go in compost heap for couple of weeks and the maggots clean off flesh/brain making boiling out much easier.

    Sorry I can't help you as I'm a bit far away for you to use mine but if you are careful with a regular wood saw you can do this no bother. If its a bit off, just adjust with a sander later. Depends what you want to take off also. You could leave it for the maggots but it takes sooooo long. Boiling and bleaching takes no time. Here's a couple of examples and by far the easiest is just lopping the top of its head off (no time to clean) as you suggested but don't think it looks as good as some of the others.
