    Lunch Time Buck…..

I had spotted signs of Muntjac in this corner of the farm some time back, nothing on my trail cameras for quite a while until I bumped him in a small area which is left fallow.
Moving the trail cameras produced a couple of night time pictures and one day time snap shot.

As this land is a short drive from my house going there is not an issue, so I quite often use any spare time to build up where might be the best place for a stand.
Twice he was out at night when lamping, once when he came in from land I can’t shoot then drifted back in as there was no safe shot….
Six times at dusk with no shows…!!
Yesterday I was waiting for a line of pigeons to start on the emerging drilled peas; however they were feeding some distance away on what I guessed to be hawthorn..
While I was waiting the shape of a Muntjac was working its way down a well used trail, grabbing my boot sale bino’s and with Spaniel in tow legged I down the inside of a hedge out of sight.

Sitting the dog up on the second attempt I peaked around the corner!! Ten seconds later he was out of sight, checking my phone it was 12.45!
A busy morning was planed for today with a boot sale visit, wildfowling club clay shoot and back to roll this Buck over…
After an hour of waiting the early start was kicking in a bit, deer seem to be like a mate who promises to turn up, you look the other way and then he is walking down your drive…
This buck came out, along and back in…Bo-locks…I muttered to my self 20 mins and off…!
Well the Deer Gods sent him back out for round two, a sharp YDS bark brought him to a stop, so did the 95 grain round.
Shot time 1.35 158 paces back to the small Oak in the picture, 27 lbs after cleaning him out.

Stalking is very much like going to the night club

You can always tell an Essex Boy, just you cant tell him much...

An hour in the field is worth a week of typing trash.....

Thank you, first one "close to home" I think it might be a while before another one pops up!
