    The twist

I'm about to purchase a tikka t3 .223 for a bit of foxing with seasonal hare culling duties but I've also been asked to trim a few muntjac from a plantation we shoot , would a 1/12 twist rate shooting upto 55grain ammo be man enough for 100yd muntys or would it be wiser to go 1/8 twist for heavier loads ??

A 12 twist 223 will stabilse up to 65 grn soft point bullets - EG Sierra 65 grn (GameKing) - or 60 grn Vmax BT bullets.

It will have no problem with 55 grn and under.

would you say it's wise to forget the 1-8 twist tikka t3 in favour slower twist rate and just stick to lighter rounds ???

i would just get the 12 twist. most the 1 in 8 twist if buying new have 6 month wait from factory these days. unless the shop is lucky enough to have one in.

55 grain sako game head will drop a munty nicely. alot of people use these on roe in Scotland also
