Hi Guys,

Saw my first swallow last night at 6pm in Winterbourne, BS36.

Could it be that things will warm up at last.

Also my lovely 6 pointer was cleaning off the remains of his velvet last night, I left him in peace with his lovely doe.

I saw a first recon vanguard, from the Sandmartins that frequent the sand quarry yesterday, this will need the working faces to be angled to make them unusable by them, to avoid later disturbance by quarrying, the older faces that are weathered will then be colonised by them for the summer.

Saw my first swallows and heard first cuckoo on Sunday morning in Berks - def feels like spring arriving at last!

Bumble bees are very busy around the flowering currant bush, which is now in full bloom. Definitely another one of those sounds we love to hear. :D

From Swindon's greatest -

Season cycle moving round and round
Pushing life up from a cold dead ground
It's growing green
It's growing green, well
Darling don't you ever stop to wonder
About the clouds about the hail and thunder
'Bout the baby and its umbilical
Who's pushing the pedals on the season cycle?
Summer chased by Autumn
Autumn chased by Winter
season cycle go from death to life
Winter chased by Springtime
bring a harvest or a man his wife
Springtime's turning
it's growing green
It's growing green, well
Darling, don't you ever sit and ponder
darling did you ever think
About the building of the hills a yonder
all this life stuff's closely linked
Where we're going in this verdant spiral
Who's pushing the pedals on the season cycle?
Round and round and round and round
I really get confused on who would make all this
is there a God in Heaven
Everybody says join our religion get to Heaven
I say no thanks why bless my soul
I'm already there!
Autumn is Royal
As Spring is clown
But to repaint Summer
They're closing Winter down
Darling don't you ever stop to wonder
darling did you ever think
About the clouds about the hail and thunder
all this life stuff's closely linked
About the baby and its umbilical
Who's pushing the pedals on the season cycle?

Saw a single swallow while out stalking last Thursday evening. It was moving pretty purposefully and wasn't hanging around.

No swallows yet in our part of North Wales but the house martins arrived on 2nd April.

We saw our first swallow this evening in North West Herefordshire.
They come back to the in-laws garage to nest, they have been coming back there for the last 20-25 years by all accounts.

Hi all,

Saw my first one last weekend here in North Devon we were out walking our dogs on the beach and surrounding dunes we saw martins and swallows , the swallows have learnt to fly just above and behind the dogs as they make the insects rise the swallows then swoop in to catch them, even in the rain! Incredible to watch. Spring is here time to cut the lawn for the second time when the dew dries off later, oh and got lucky on a roe buck last night(evening)
