Thread: Reflex on a fluted barrel?

    Reflex on a fluted barrel?

Am I right in thinking that a reflex or over the barrel moderator won't work on a fluted barrel? I'm looking at getting a 308 with a fluted barrel and I'm trying to work out what my options are.

    Cheers

    Jonny

it will work perfect as the unit is enclosed and the bush at the back is only there as support should the mod ever go slack.

Jonny. It will work, but I wouldn't waste my money on a fluted barrel again. Secondly I favour moderators that don't go over the barrel. Regards JCS

Works fine on my Finnlight .243.

What's been your problem with a fluted barrel JCS?

It's just bling and I'd rather spend £100 on going stalking somewhere interesting. Regards JCS

I agree the fluting looks good, but I won't be getting any more fluted barrels. Regards JCS

I thought fluting would help cooling, as well as increasing stiffness? I don't own a rifle with a fluted barrel though, so I can't compare

As far as reflex moderators go, I wouldn't have thought it would make any difference. In fact, my ASE is a reflex, but relies only on the thread shoulder to align it
