views HARDY GEN 4 AND 5

Hi looking to get a light weight mod for my 6mmbr i like the look of the Hardy gen 4 and 5 as they are over barrel (adds 80mm to length of barrel) , light and from what i read online fairly quiet for a light mod ,i will only be using it for stalking ,i have a 18x1 thread and 22mm barrel width ,will the hardy go over this width ?? and do they come in the thread i want ?? and what are your general views on the hardy gen mod
    thanks for your time lads

I can only speak to the Gen IV on my 6.5x55mm. It's not the quietest, but that was less concern than weight as I carry CONSIDERABLY more than I shoot!!!

I went into this with gusto before replacing my T8 brick, and the results are below. Most of it is self-evident, but the main columns of interest to me were Overall Weight Reduction and Over Barrel Weight Reduction - both of which are %ages made in comparison to the T8. Overkill? Absolutely! Did I miss an mods? More than likely. Does it need updating? Well, someone else can do that as I'm more than happy with the Gen IV :-)

Call Riflecraft re the technical details. They will soon answer those questions.

I use a Gen 4 on a 6-6.5*47 Lapua and love it. Best mod I have used. Acceptably quiet and beautifully balanced. So good I am just about to pick up a Gen 5 for the .308 and .284.
So much to learn and so little time left

Use a General IV on my 25.06 and a T8 on my 270. Both perform acceptably but the T8 is significantly heavier and more cumbersome. However the weight helps with muzzle flip on the 270.

No issue with the hardy though. Compact, well made and nicely balanced.

Speak to Bently at Riflecraft for the lowdown.

As above, gen IV on a 25 06, not as quiet as my PES T12 but less than half the weight. Such a better thing to carry-a great bit of kit.

Well done Farticus that's a handy bit of info for people looking to buy or change a mod.

    I have a Gen V on my .270

Not sure much difference between the IV and V but, hand on heart, the recoil on the .270 is no different to my .243, possibly less.

Lovely bit of lightweight kit. I had an ASE Utra on the .243 which did the job admirably but was pretty heavy/solid.

i have a 4 and like it it will clear a 22mm barrel no probs the 5 is same as 4 externally the internals have been redesigned for more sound moderation. However it's funny I'm beginning to go full circle now that's no mod for general stalking and jet z for times when moderation is needed. It's a joy carrying a rifle with no mod

I nearly went for a hardy mod.. but was put off by the muzzle break bit on the end, meaning its a bit antisocial for the dog or spectators on a range. Also i did wonder how long they would last? Look like nice bits of kit, but i ended up getting a lawrence precision mod, which IMO is the best mod ive ever had.
