    300 win mag

I was wondering how many people on here use the 300 win mag for deer?
It's not for discussing the merits or a 308 will do the same job etc, really more how popular it is. ....

Only used mine on red deer but some smaller yearlings without any excessive damage
taken it out for boar too but they didn't get the invitation
    i use 180gr plus

i also have a .270 which is good too but I recently found that my shooting has become much better as a result of using the 300wm

it punishes poor fundamentals with poor accuracy
consistent grip, body position, pressure on stock, cheek weld, trigger, fore-end control, breathing

Get it it right and it is very rewarding!

I have 2 300WM and they are my weapons of choice for both the hill and driven game. Both guns shoot the Barnes TTSX 180 grains very well. I shot mine with a muzzle brake for years because I heard the recoil was excessive. I removed the brake and actually the recoil is easily manageable.
