    R8 and moderator

Hi folks just bought a blaser r8 pro success in 22.250 and 6.5x55 and an ase ultra sl5 and have been recommended to use the .3 instead of the .25 moderator, as will only be buying one mod, any thoughts on this please from anybody in this situation

    cheers allan

I use an A-TEC Maxim on my .222 and .243 the Mod is stamped 6.5 so would suggest the 6.5 for you on both your calibres unless the Ultra sl5 doesn't do a 6.5 ?

    Allan

    Same for me, have a 270 R8 P/S and going to get a 22-250.
I have the .30 Blaser moderator, so not sure if it will work well with 22-250.
Hope someone can clarify. I would guess the larger size moderator is better, but I don't know too much.

I have rifles in 6mm, 6.5mm and .308. From a safety perspective I only own .30 cal moderators. Regards JCS

Used to have a t8 on my .270 and used it on my 22.250 as well with good results but wondered if any body has an r8 using an sl5 in .25 ,as it was Jackson rifles them selves that recommended the .3

Yes think I'll just stick to the .3 as recommended for safety reasons thanks for the replys gents

As good as the SL5 is it's a bit heavy for a lovely rifle like the r8

have you considered the blaser moderator ? Over barrel and light

or one of the lighter mods on the market ?

I've tried the sl5 on the rifle and it is ok don't fancy an over barrel as had a t8 for years on my other rifles weight isn't an issue as a lot lighter than the t8 I am used to

I have sl5 for both my barrels both .3 one .243 and one 7mm as the barrels have different threads both work fine.
