    Forestry Commission Shooting test?

    The Forestry Commission Shooting test:

    - Is this just a Scottish thing?
    - If not where can I arrange to do one in the South of England?

I've phone FC in England and BASC and they know nothing about it!
I'm told its the same as the DSC1 (Yes have already done that)
I don't see the point in repeating but have no problem doing it as it's a requirement.

Any contact names & Numbers would be useful.

You will be invited to do a skills test if FC need you to do one. Generally speaking only if you have a lease with them.

Not sure but isn't the FC skills test done annually to demonstrate continued competence?
It's the calibre of the shooter that counts not the calibre of the rifle.

Think it has to be taken every 5 years if you have an FC lease. Did mine couple of weeks ago and that's what I was told then.

Yes its every 5 years I have to do mine again this year.
AT THE AGE OF 50 I DECIDED I WAS GOING TO GROW OLD F***ING DISGRACEFULLY

Forestry Commission Leases are particularly difficult to obtain
without going through lengthy complicated applications, satisfying criteria,
visiting sites, interviews and skill tests. You may have DSC1 and DSc2
but even so you still have to do their own skills test after an interview.
As for the shooting test you need your moderated rifle on zero
and shoot very similar to DSc1.

If you are a reloader it is wise to take FACTORY ammo for the test or you might not be allowed to take the test.

Just curious, how is this shooting test? It`s fun to compare since we up here have to take one each year to be allowed to shot Roe or bigger game with a rifle.

Stalking is very much like going to the night club

You can always tell an Essex Boy, just you cant tell him much...

An hour in the field is worth a week of typing trash.....

Every time Iíve been stalking with FCS the Ranger has produced his trusty cardboard box with often vague aiming mark and stuck it on the side of a hill so I may check zero. That this also informs the Ranger in whether to bring a dog is not lost on me so have always viewed this ritual as a FCS shooting test.
