Exclamation Gwent Police abuse their powers - false accusation of pheasant shoot shooting raptors

    CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS!

Gwent Police defame law abiding local game syndicate members by implicating them in the death a buzzard and the disappearance of 2 barn owls with no evidence whatsoever!

See below - message sent out on 21 July by Gwent Police OWL/Neighbourhood watch team:

Appeal for information- wildlife issues- Shirenewton

    Dear Watch Member,
Gwent Police have received a recent report that a Buzzard has been found dead near the Whitemill waterworks, Shirenewton and that also that Barn Owl chicks have been found dead in a nest at Fitton church tower when the parent birds did not return to the nest.
This area is in close proximatey to a Pheasant shoot.
If you have any concerns that wild/protected birds are being shot please contact the below officer via email with any wildlife issues/concerns
    maldwyn.john@gwent.pnn.police.uk
or ring 101 and ask for PC John CADRO at Abergavenny Police station.

    Innocent 'till proven guilty....
This needs to be forwarded to NGO,BASC and CA

    Can't spell either. "Proximatey".

I can't actually find the message MikeZZZ is there any chance please of you posting a link for those of us not into antisocial media.

If it has been posted as you say and the good name of a local shoot besmirched purely because of proximity then as Goingback suggests it needs to be forwarded to the NGO, BASC and CA. Also the shoot needs to contact the officer concerned who posted this very poorly worded request for information and his/her superiors requesting an immediate withdrawal/amendment of the posting and a public apology.

Contacting the Chief Constable and the office of the Police and Crime Commissioner concerning the clumsy use, or should that be abuse, of social media by the force wouldn't do any harm either.
It's the calibre of the shooter that counts not the calibre of the rifle.

This is a disgrace, as said get the shooting organisations involved.

it is unbelievable, could you imagine the same statement but discussing stolen farmyard equipment and saying it was in close proximity to the travelling community?

the officer involved would lose their job.

Have emailed both parties asking what evidence they have that the birds were unlawfully killed and why they associate it with the local pheasant shoot. I will post their reply when it arrives

Might I suggest that a CC of that email and its reply to the local MP and the local Police and Crime Commissioner might not be a bad idea. Especially, as others have noted, how a similar appeal making reference to "farm equipment" and "travellers" would be received.
