    Sauer 404

    Hi all,

Does anybody understand how the SUM works on the Sauer 404.

How is it attached to the scope, I don't see any rings.

    Regards,

They have developed a similar but different system to Blaser, so you need to buy their mounts for an obscene amount of money. I handled the 404 in February and couldn't see the added benefits to warrant the price tag......so they have gone for a safety like the Blaser, great, it's still turn bolt, not much change there, you can adjust the trigger angle so it is perfectly adjusted to the indivual shooter, great, but seriously, who needs that if you're not target shooting, theyve fiddled with the strip down method, but all in all, nothing there that warrant the increased price tag.
Opinions are like arseholes....... we all have them, and most of them stink

Thanks Long drag, I wasn't trying to be clever either, just genuinely stumped. I'll give it a google.

Had a quick look/feel of one at the range before the summer holidays. Not really any improvement over the 202 in my opinion. Sure there's extra gadgets like the decocker ( How did we manage without these before?) the ability to adjust trigger and 3options for trigger pull weight, a universal tool integral to the rifle for taking the stock forend and barrel off with etc. Also switch barrel and expensive scope mounts. Aluminium receiver, no steel option yet?
seems to me that a basic top quality rifle these days is costing upwards of 2000 .
The good news is that decent quality unfashionable bolt actions get chopped in or sold cheaply to finance the latest must have german piece of engineering.
