    N140 and 165gr 30-06

Does anyone have any data using n140 with 165 btsp's in 30-06 flavour?
    looking for about 2700fps.
at a guess it looks like about 47.5gr but if anyone has any recipes they're happy with it'd save me faffing about

    Do you mean V140?

I found that they ran spow in my rifle, chronoing at 2550 fps, with my batch.

i load rl17 now across the bullet weights in my .30'06 and get excellent velocities at lower pressures than the range of other powders i have tried.", for what it's worth.

Ok, the Vihtavuori manual, 3rd addition did not have a load for a 165 gr, they did have a listing for a 167 gr. Scenar. 45.5 to a max of 50.2 with N140. With their max load, they were only able to reach 2664 fps. 24" barrel Lapua cases, large rifle primers. Seems kind of anemic. I guess N140 turns a 30/06 into a .308 in a hurry. Looks like all my loading last weekend has me confused. Good Luck!

N140 is a bit fast for the heavier bullets in .30-06 albeit I have had some decent accuracy with 50 grains of N140 behind a 168 grain bullet.

Agree. Might be better with N160?

Vihtavuori says 50.1 grains of N140 is their accuracy load for the 168-gr BT bullets in the .30-06 ( also their MAX load), at 2,664 FPS.
N150 is very close to W760 / H414, and will give a little better velocity with 2.0 more grains of powder.
N160 will only give you a bit more velocity (2,762) as you approach a max load of 61.7 gr. ( Denser powder, more in the case, less efficient.)

For accuracy and velocity, it is hard to beat the gold standard of 57.0 gr of IMR-4350 for 2,800 fps ( 24-inch barrel).
But RL-19 and RL-22 will give 2,900 and 3,000 FPS with top loads; whether you have the accuracy there is another question, only your rifle can answer.

I use 55gr of Ramshot Big Game under 165gr Hornady BTSP.
    Giving 2680fps out of a 20" Tikka T3 Lite.
