Best loctite to use on base screws,

I have red but I am never sure which is best?

Cheers

Bob

Bob 242 is plenty,i wouldent go much stronger as you might round the heads trying to undo them in the future,(unless you use a heat gun to warm first )

Wing nuts on the base screws might be better - your chopping and changing before even the zero has settled.

243 works well use the heatgun to warm up before removing

Based on past experience, probably purple, but blue is more than adequate and can be tough to get undone.
Strongly recommend 8-40 torx head (or whatever they are called) type screws though...

Cheers lads

Very kind and as normal the helps always forthcoming,

Regards to all and thanks to Tam,

It should be sorted,

Bob.

There is a strength/grade of loctite for every occasion. From what I remember most of them fail when heated up to about 200 Celcious if you struggle to undo the bond.
