    Moderators in France

Off to the French Pyrenees in January to try to track down a Chamois. Planning to take the 280AI. Does anyone know what the regs are on Moderators over there? Are they legal?

Not for hunting, no. Not no way, not no how.

While you are no doubt correct, don't you think that's odd? You would think that all the European countries would be promoting 'elf-n-safety'.

Are you sure? This is from Wikipedia - not the Gospel I know, but it's not often that far wrong.

"Legal regulation of suppressors varies widely around the world. In some nations, such as Finland, Norway and France, some or all types of suppressor are essentially unregulated and may be bought "over the counter" in retail stores or by mail-order, as they are considered a great help, along with hearing protection, to preserve the hearing of the user and any onlookers".

It's actually to prevent poaching. It's not firearms legislation as such, it's wildlife legislation. You're allowed them on the range.

Besides, chamois hunting should be conducted with a stutzen.

If driving you may need to check the settings on the sat nav unless the law has changed?

Bugger! Looks like the ears are going to take a bit of a pasting then....but only once.

Will have to check the hand loads and make sure they are just as accurate without the mod on.

Leave it behind = less weight on the mountains where every gramm counts at days end.

They'll probably group just as well but POI will be different so you may just need to re-zero without the mod.
