Thread: Malformed Roe

    Malformed Roe

I shot a malformed Roe last year and left the head on site as I don't keep trophies; however I found it last week and thought I would clean it up and keep it.

It is intact but looks a bit rough. Is there anything I can do to tidy it up so that I can keep the skull?

    Many thanks

Boil, (gently, and dont over do it) that should remove any remaining flesh if there is any, peroxide thereafter but you do tend to find that skulls left out to decompose like that tend to be stained beyond the point of ever looking totally clean. You could always paint the skull if it really looked bad, but I've yet to see this done in such a way as to not look a bit odd.....
Opinions are like arseholes....... we all have them, and most of them stink

Thanks for that. The skull is pretty clean so I will boil it for 15minutes?

How long should I zap it with peroxide?

    Thanks

Here's an odd one I got in this year's rut.
Those who can, do it. Those who can't, teach it.

I now feel guilty for having left it on site! I chucked it under a wind blown root plate so that's why it never got carried off but I was still surprised it was in fair condition.... At least I can now do something with it now.

I get more excited about roe malforms than I do medals. I've shot some pretty weird heads. I'll see if I can get some photos.
