Surely there's people with a degree of respect for aesthetics left out there?

Rather than spoil an earlier sales thread further, any views on PKL's proposition?

surely there's people with a degree of respect for aesthetics left out there!

I feel a witchhunt of traditionalists coming on here JCS

You have sown the seeds of yet a new schism on the SD....or maybe I did

There are two types of shooters - the fulfilled and successful ones - with a 7 X 57 and those poor souls who have not yet decided to get one!

Define 'aesthetics'. What may qualify as aesthetically pleasing to one man, may be an outrage to another.

What I think you may be driving at (having a notion of PKL's interests) is: 'Who likes traditional stalking rifles?'

    Wrong!

Form & Function. Not a given vintage or single style.

I used to know plenty of girls who were keen to smoke a pipe - as I've gotten older, not so much
For Gods sake - don't tell her how much I've spent

I will yield to the fact that in subjective things, it is fine for one man to have a taste for a heavy stainless rifle in synthetic stock with a moderator and Hubble scope, while another finds joy in a 7 pound rifle in nice walnut and polished blue, made to fit him just right for its iron sights. But to take a classic rifle and bolt on modern scopes and moderators and slings like equestrian tack is, to me, like bolting a wing onto an Aston Martin or Mercedes 280 SL - just accept the classic for what it is or sell it to someone who appreciates its original form.

To see a fine old rifle get hot-rodded, while I am trying to build replicas for what I cannot buy, drives me nuts.
My replica Oberndorf Mauser in 6.5x55 SWE built with a H&H takedown mechanism, vintage scope and express sights.
