So I shot this in Hungary last month. There is a bit of a story behind it but to keep it short, I fell asleep up the high seat due to the previous evenings shoot followed by plenty of drinks. Anyway, I was woken up by this chap fighting with another some 150 yards to my right. By the time I had poked the rifle out the window of the high seat (European shed type) the other stag had given up and legged it from this fellow, and out of sight.

It didn't take long for the safety to come off and the shot to be taken with my .308 but it all happened too quickly, I would have liked to have watched the pair rut for a while first as this is only the second stag I've ever shot in my life. However I can't grizzle as I am very lucky to have had such an opportunity.

Thanks chaps, I am very very happy with it!! I don't know what either the animal or the trophy weighs yet, all the info along with the trophy are on its way to me at the moment. What I do know it that it has 8 points on one side and 7 on the other.

What a great beast! I'll bet with a rack like that he put up quite an impressive fight - It's a pity that you didn't get a chance to watch it!
Not to worry, you got your prize, and what a prize!
    Well done!

Thanks FrenchieBoy, I am certainly very happy with it. Although the anticlimax of it all is that I'm probably not going to shoot something like this again for a very long time, and that's if I even see something that compares. None the less I'm could not be more happy or greatful for it!

The animal weighed 125 kg without the head or guts. The trophy itself weighed 8.3kg.
