    'Fish-tailed' Fallow

Can someone please explain what causes some Fallow buck antlers to fish-tail?

Every year I shoot bucks with this and some have one antler palmated and the other fish-tailed.

What causes this? I'm guessing genetics, and if so, is it possible over time to get this out of the gene pool by selective culling?

It is genetic and you will never fix it because the does have it as well but you can't see it. Unless you want to wipe the population out and start again.

And that is certainly something a Deer Park would consider.

Just as I feared the case would be.

Is the Buck likely to be fish-tailed every year or can it vary year to year?
