    CZ 527 .22 hornet

I have just bought this, .22 hornet. I don't know the twist of the barrel !!. Were they made with 2 or 3 different barrel twists, this Is an older rifle !!. Locally I can buy 45 grain factory ammunition, Is there any lower grain factory ammunition available?.

    Thanks for reading.

Front right hand side of receiver you should see two numbers alongside the CZ proof mark. This will be the year of manufacture/proofing. CZ527 twist rate should be 1 in 16. Most European manufacturers of Hornet factory ammunition offer 45 grain factory ammunition, Hornady & Remington offer 35 grain. If funds permit try a selection of factory ammunition to see what your one prefers. Most CZ Hornets will shoot acceptable groups using factory ammunition, although home-loading will bring the best out of any Hornet.

I find It extremely light, but that can only be a good thing for me anyway. Thanks for your reply.

Great wee rifles, mine is exactly the same with the barrel showing a fair bit of pitting from previous owner. But this shoots sub MOA all day long.

try the 35gr Hornady factory if your not into reloading. Some good threads on the hornet on the site.

    best of luck.

I've had two .22 Hornet 527 and both were so accurate. I should have kept the last one that I put a boyds stock on but sadly...I didn't

Hi Tam, I can source PPU and S&B factory ammo. But It's all 45 grains, that will get me started.

I have a 527 varmint with what I think is a 1 in 14 twist rate (1 3/4 turns for the 600mm/23.6 inch barrel) if that helps (although it is .223)
