    Which scope to buy!

Hello I appreciate that this will be brought up all the time, but I am looking to buy a new scope and these are my choices which one? Pros and cons
    Kahles kx 3.5-10 x 50
Schmidt and bender classic Hungarian 8x56 30mm
    Steiner ranger 3-12 x 56
    Zeiss conquest dl 3-12 x 50

    Thanks Sam

Zeiss conquest would get my vote.

That's a bit like asking what clothes should I buy. What are you shooting? Day, evening night? Distances.
I can speak in-depth and with great knowledge about most subjects until some bugger who actually knows what he is speaking about opens his gob .

I have used a Kahles 3-12x56 a4 for close to 5years, you will get all the answers under the sun as hopefully the person giving you there 2p worth will be using the scope they recommend...( some may not! )

Chopping and changing kit costs cash the wrong way out of you pocket...

You will need it to do more than you start off with as your shooting will change..

I don't wear the same kit for out on the marsh ( waders and camo coat) as I will on a driven invite day..

However I used the same scope to shoot a deer as close as 50 yards or a fox out beyond 250...

Stalking is very much like going to the night club

You can always tell an Essex Boy, just you cant tell him much...

An hour in the field is worth a week of typing trash.....

Of the list id go Zeiss 3:12:50

You could shoot 200m with an 8X56 but Id much much rather do it with a 12

    I own 8X56

    3 12 50

    2.5 15 56

    All Swaros

The 2.5 15 56 is far and away my favorite scope

Hi.All are good scopes but a variable gives you more options and as long as you have a good quality make you should have no unreliability problems.I do not know your budget but I would think a mint second hand Zeiss diavari say 3x12x56 would be ideal or a similar set up by S&B,Khales or Swarovski. In last light the 56 objective will be great for light gathering but you could compromise on a 50 if it means having to use too high a mount that makes it uncomfortable to shoot.I see you are talking new but for less money you should get better glass the second hand route.Optic warehouse are doing great deals on IOR scopes at the minute so give them a look.Good luck with your quest.Richard.

Big objective, not too much magnification, good optical quality, appropriate reticle.
Lots of medium to high end scopes have those qualities.
A fixed power 8x56 would do the job nicely and would be my choice.
Go and try a few scopes at that time of night to judge their qualities.
